At this time of year, we are thankful we can give back to our community!

 volunteers

This year, Litigation Insights employees teamed up to volunteer and lend a hand in supporting three wonderful organizations and their annual events:  Wayside Waifs’ “Strutt With Your Mutt,” Operation Breakthrough’s “Farm Day” and The Salvation Army’s “Adopt-A-Family.”  Each of these organizations works in the Kansas City area to enhance the lives of our less fortunate neighbors – both animal and human kind.  In this issue of Insights, we feature these groups and their impact on our community.

wayside waifes

Wayside Waifs is a charitable animal shelter whose purpose is to place adoptable companion animals in responsible homes.  To accomplish this, they employ 3 key strategies:

  • Providing temporary shelter for homeless companion animals
  • Educating the public
  • Developing partnerships, collaborations and strategic alliances

Volunteers play a vital role at Wayside Waifs.  Their support directly impacts the quality of life for the thousands of animals who come through the doors each year.  Give Time

As Kansas City’s largest no kill animal shelter, they help save animals from all over the Midwest.  Thousands of abandoned, abused and homeless dogs, cats and small mammals come to them every year for help…and a new start.  And that takes the kind support of people like you.  Give Dollars

Wayside Waifs regularly has over 300 adoptable animals at its shelter.  Find your best friend today!  Adopt

operation breakthrough

Operation Breakthrough is the largest daycare and social service facility in Missouri, serving more than 450 children daily in the urban core of Kansas City.  The mission of Operation Breakthrough is to help children who are living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving and educational environment.

Operation Breakthrough also strives to support and empower the children’s families through advocacy, education, referral services and emergency aid.

The mission of the volunteer office is to meet the needs of their agency by utilizing the time, talents, and strengths of dedicated volunteers that share in the greater mission of Operation Breakthrough. From rocking babies, organizing a diaper drive, to working in the kitchen, your contribution is always appreciated.  Give Time

Operation Breakthrough is always in need of new and used goods for the children and their families.  Give Dollars and Supplies

*Special thanks to KDW, Inc. for planning, & hosting “Farm Day” 2012.

salvation

The Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family (AAF) program matches impoverished families with individual or group sponsors to meet their tangible needs during the Christmas season.

Without the benefit of an adoption, these families would be looking forward to a very grim holiday. The Salvation Army works to meet these families’ needs once or, on very rare occasions, twice in a lifetime.

Social workers take an inventory of each family’s needs and a Christmas wish list is compiled.  This gift guide may include toys, clothing, household items and information regarding the utilities and heating sources.

When an Adopt-A-Family match is made, the family information and wish lists are sent to the sponsor.  The Salvation Army ensures that these families receive donors’ gifts and food during the week before Christmas.  Give Gifts and Supplies
