Litigation Insights: Giving Thanks and Giving Back

As the holidays approach us, employees at Litigation Insights take time to remember all that we are thankful for, and all the ways we can support, and give back to our community.  As a team, we have worked together to volunteer and donate to many wonderful, local organizations that benefit Kansas City.   In this issue of Insights, we would like to take a moment to feature the charities we worked with and highlight the services they offer to help our community.

For the second consecutive year, our Litigation Insights team volunteered at the Johnson County Christmas Bureau sorting various donated items.  Through county-wide donations, this charity “provides holiday assistance to low-income residents of Johnson County, Kansas.”

At the 2014 Holiday Shop, 13,948 local Johnson County individuals were assisted by providing  them gift shopping opportunities and much needed food, supplies and coats.

Following the April 13, 2014 tragedy at the Jewish Community Campus and Village Shalom in Overland Park, Kansas, the LI team volunteered with the SevenDays: Make Ripple, Change the World event.  SevenDays is a “challenge for young and old, to embrace diversity across races, religions and cultures.”  The goal of this initiative is to have our community generate the “power to outshine and overcome senseless acts of hate and … turn one ripple of kindness into an unstoppable wave of faith and love.”  We volunteered our time to help at the “Faith, Love & Walk”event. This walk, that concluded the week-long events, represents a society embracing our diversity and common values and to stand against hate.  New dates for next year are April 12-18, 2016.  We encourage others to spread the word about this organization’s purpose and events.

For the third year, Litigation Insights is proud to sponsor a team made up of a mix of LI employees and family/friends at The American Cancer Society event “Relay for Life.”  Relay for Life is an overnight fundraising event from 6pm to 6am the following day.  Relay for Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local park.  Moreover, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times during this period.  All funds raised are used for various things, such as funding for cancer research and clinical trials, paying for lodging at American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, and much more.

With Litigation Insights being a proud woman-owned company, we feel that it was important to volunteer with WIN for KC at Camp Win a summer camp designed to empower young girls of the Kansas City area.  Camp WIN introduces girls in the community to a variety of sports and fitness activities while promoting opportunities for participation and leadership development.  LI employees had a fun day assisting the campers at various athletic stations, helping supervise lunch, and aiding in camp dismissal.

Since most of the folks at LI travel regularly, we collect the toiletries in our hotel rooms in order to donate them to Kansas City Hospice House.  This organization “provides medical and nursing care for patients facing advanced illnesses, all in the comfort of a beautiful, homelike environment, when staying at home is not an option.”  Our toiletries are given to families during their stay at KC Hospice House.

All of us at Litigation Insights are very thankful to be in a position that allows us to help these local organizations in a way that is beneficial to everyone involved.
